We’ve splashed. These “polar vortex’s” are not making things easy, though. The marina where the boat is located had ice until last week. ... s going to be a big night for us as we have booked a cruise down the Hudson River with fireworks over The Statue of Liberty at midnight - hopefully I will be able to get some good photos although I will have to go out onto the deck of the boat to take them and its going to be -6 during the days so dont know what the midnight temp is going to be, its so damn hard to get your fingers to work when they are like little ice cubes!!! Take care everyone!!!

... we went to the National Smithsonian Zoo (which, like the others, is free!). We caught the Metro to the Zoo which was really quick and easy. There were lots of animals and the zoo was well set out/landscaped but we hardly saw any staff and the animals ...

... 8217;ll be ordering from the kids menu tomorrow. I was the only one game to try ‘grits’ - doesn’t sound that appetising, but the way the girl described it, I thought it might be a bit like polenta. Not like polenta at all. More like slightly crunchy creamed rice. Pretty good with a bit of maple syrup. (No idea if that’s how you’re meant to eat it, but it worked for me!)

Quickly back to the hotel to get our stuff, then on to ...
