... for "fakeoff"

The seven hour flight is relatively uneventful other than Rob Roy can't wait for the beach making her rounds with elbows high and fake smiles firing off volleys of turkey buns to appease the restless. They did compliment the two hundred plus with a free beverage, dinner and a roll. We arrive in Lima after an eighteen hour grunt from Calgary at 1:15am. Our pick-up is waiting at the exit with his " Mr. Creestopher Hanseen" sign, a welcome sight. ...

Changes I made

Yesterday, I tried to fix my stay at a guest ranch in the Texas Hill Country. However, the ranch of my choice is closed for a week due to a family wedding. One economical option popping up at many stores is swai, which is native to Southeast Asia—Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia—and sells locally for around $3.99 a pound. Since I knew nothing about swai, I asked Gavin Gibbons, a spokesman for the National Fisheries Institute, for a primer. Gibbons explained that swai, along with basa and tra, two related varieties also appearing at more and more stores, belong to ...

Day 5: New Orleans and New Iberia After a leisurely check out of our room this morning, mew checked our bags and walked down a few blocks to the historic St. Charles streetcar. This is the streetcar that runs 7 miles across from the French Quarter past charming old period houses and past Tulane and Loyola Universities, through some of the business district to a residential area. It was worth doing, but a little disappointing as it was crowded, and halfway along we had ...
