Bullet Tree Falls, P.O Box 108 San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize
Friday 2nd January: We took the 8.30am water taxi to Belize City (12bz each) and then took the local bus from there to San Ignacio (7bz each). The bus stopped every 50yds all the way there. There were no actual bus stops every time someone wanted to get on or off they'd just stick their hand out or go to get off and the bus would stop - bonkers!! You'd have people in the street standing a few meters away from each other and the bus would stop twice. So we reached San Ignacio at around 1.30pm ...
San Ignacio, Belize cat2222we arrived at an early 10am to San Ignacio and looked for a decent place to eat breakfast. we settled on an Indian restaurant called Hannah's, great breakfast. then we found an Internet cafe. after writing a few blogs we were behind on , we left our backpacks at the Internet cafe and took a hike to some Mayan ruins right outside of town - Cahal Pech = a Mayan city of importance from 900 BC to 800 ad. since it's slow season, we had the whole ruins to ourselves - that was pretty amazing - Kirst...
San ignacio, Belize kjerstanHi from San Ignacio! Yesterday we took a slightly longer scuba/snorkeling trip out to glover's reef, which was pretty cool. Lars and effrey and I saw some nurse sharks and lobsters among all the other fish we saw. No Dophins yet, which is what i was really hoping for, but I still think we might see them in Ambergris Caye. There was a giant turtle right under us at some point, but we all managed to miss us. Our guide sorta made funr of us for that. The beach was pretty, but we got a bunch of s...

We began by again getting on a very beat up minivan with another couple from Britain. Most of our drive was on regular roads but then the driver took this minivan off-road for a long time including crossing two rivers (no bridges included). It was definitely a new experience for us to cross a river with no bridge in a minivan that looked like it was ready to fall apart.
When we finally arrived we began our hike through the jungle for about an hour ...
... to enter Xibalba like the Mayans would have, respectfully and TOTALLY in the dark…. I’ve never experienced a darkness like it, it made no difference to have your eyes open or shut… but I kept mine open anyway! After a short while we switched our lights on again to resume the scramble/climb over rocks and wading through water. The rock formations were spectacular and my photos just do not do them justice. To get to ...
San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize sarahelective... looking one, places it on a rock and takes a lump of stone (first checking that it wasn't a piece of temple) and whacks it. Hard. After a few thumps it's cracked and the oil is oozing out - Palm Oil, which Margaret was invited to use as a moisturiser. This, says JP, is the secret to Mayan's youthful looks. And so to ...
Xunantunich, Belize racinghippo... lay their eggs. They also had other captive bug life on display, including a tarantula, a praying mantis, and a leaf-cutter colony in a Plexiglas box so you can see their fungal farming activities.
Just so we didn't have to wait another day to see some ruins, we had one more stop on the way back to the lodge...
... I cannot mention , be praying that Gods will be done and for His provision. Thank you and for those of you that have read this and haven't accepted Christ as your personal savior and are still entangled by sin and on the road to hell, I pray that my words and life have shown you there is a better way, the one way to eternal life in heaven with God and His son who he sent to die for your sins on the Cross so that you by accepting this free gift may have ...
Belmopan, Belize hrpitschmann... straw hats. I wandered around, bought some stuff for family, but mostly just watched people. Eventually i bought a pair of shorts, as all mine are knee length and i'm getting a sick farmer tan on my legs. (on another note, i got home in my new shorts, and found a tooth in the pocket. now that doesn't happen every day.) After i went home, changed, napped, and then hired a taxi to go to Xunantunich, a mayan ruin close to San ...
San Ignacio, Belize travel.junkie... on top. It was good, but not as good as the meals of the previous nights. We grabbed a few more drinks after dinner and sat on the swing while the cicadas droned. Victor came over after a bit and told us about how he would lay out and sleep on the deck on nights when no customers were staying because it was so nice out. We agreed but said that the mosquitos would probably eat Erinn alive. He told us ...
