Out of a chance discussion with one of the hotel staff (thanks Carrie) about things to do in and around the area I learned of the Cross-Country skiing and snow-shoeing facility at the Chaplin Forest Reservation. As I have never tried either, off I went and had a great time - spent an hour getting use to Cross-Country skiing and then did an hour of Snow-Shoeing and enjoyed it too. Had I known earlier I would have gone several more times.

In Ohio, and a few other states, they salt the roads during Winter to help keep them free of ice and snow. Unfortunately, it has a few less desirable side affects. To aid in minimising this undesirable side affect people do interesting things to their (often) interesting vehicles!! Have a look at the attached photos. ...

I went to visit Gary and his wife Sandy - very hospitable people and Gary has the garage that every man wants - 6 large bays and 6 lovely cars to go into them. It's a long but inspiring list: a 1970 Buick 526cid Bracket race car and a 1968 Buick GS 494cid Bracket race car - both run 9.9 sec quarter mile times. There is a 1971 Buick GS 482cid 10 sec Street Car, a 1969 Buick GS 400cid ...
