Historical Traveler Reviews ParkHouse Bed & Breakfast Bunratty
Loved Park House
We only stayed a night but were impressed. Mairead is very welcoming and is a great hostess. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and Mairead lingered over it to chat to us about our plans for the day. The house is modern but charming and the two little dogs kept us amused in the garden. The location is good but it's a bit of a walk to the Castle and I wouldn't walk it at night as it's a narrow road. This is great for an early Shannon flight.
Great B&B near Shannon Airport
If you are leaving Ireland from Shannon Airport, Park House B&B in Bunratty is a great place to spend your last night. Mairead is an excellent hostess and serves a great breakfast in a beautiful updated home. Park House is a 10 minute ride to the airport. Bunratty Castle and Durty Nelly's music pub and restaurant (great place for the last night dinner) are a 10 minute walk. I have stayed here five times and highly recommend it. It fills up fast so get in touch early. If she is booked the B&B next door, Dunaree, is also very good. Info can be found at: -----------
Lovely!
Our last night in Ireland was spent with Mairead at Park House -- we will definitely visit here again! On the Low Road by Bunratty Castle, Park House is easy to find and comfortably decorated.
The room was lovely, the beds were the best we found in Ireland and the shower was strong and hot! Our hostess, Mairead, has a welcoming personality which makes you feel more like returning friends than guests. Breakfast was delicious and Mairead sent us off with blessings for a safe journey home!
We will definitely book here again!
Stay at Park House!
We have stayed with Mairead Bateman at Park House for the last 4 years, and I have just confirmed our reservation for this year. Ms. Bateman goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome, and get sorted out if they have just arrived in Ireland. Her breakfasts are wonderful, and she will prepare what you want, the way you want it. And if you are returning home, she will make sure you are up in time and fed before leaving for the airport. The guest rooms are nicely appointed, and the beds are comfortable, and the parlor is a great place to chat with other guests while enjoying a peat fire. Our trip would not be nearly as enjoyable without a night or two at Park House visiting with Miairead Bateman,
Stay at Park House
I stayed at the park house with my wife and 2 children ages 7 & 10. We piled into the family room. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. Our room was excellent and breakfast was perfect. The kids loved the 2 small dogs running around outside of the house.
If make reservations for one of the banquets through Park House you may want to confirm that it has been made.
Mairead greeted us with a warm smile when we arrived and sent us off with well wishes when we departed. We hope to get back to Ireland and enjoy some more time at the Park House.
Always a treat
Mairead is always the most gracious of hostesses and it is impossible not to feel welcome. I've stayed many times and now it feels like my home in Ireland. Do yourself a favor don't look any further; stay at Park House.
Mairead is the best host I have ever met
My wife and I arrived in Bunratty at night in a taxi one cold night in February 2003. We had a very strong sensation that the taxi driver himself was lost. But we soon spotted the brightly whitewashed Park House a few hundred metres behind the castle. We were ushered into our palatial room by Mairead herself who insisted, even though we kindly refused (hesitantly!) to prepare dinner for us since we had been travelling the whole day - a plentiful meal for which she did not charge us a penny. Throughout our wonderful stay in Bunratty, she was incredibly nice to us as were her two little dogs who were so good at begging during breakfast. In any case, there would always be a lot left for them since the Irish breakfast was big enough for an ox. I would really wish to come back to this guesthouse some day.
LOVED OUR STAY AT PARK HOUSE
Mairead's Park House was a truly enjoyable experience for our family at the end of our Ireland visit. My granddaughter enjoyed learning to make scones and also playing with the three very quiet but playful small dogs. The rest of us really enjoyed the home and our rooms. Most of all we enjoyed our visit and our welcome that we received from Mairead who is truly a delightrful Irish lady.
Ready to return
My stay at the Park House was a wonderful end to a lovely, week-long driving vacation through Ireland. I only wish that I had begun my stay there after flying into Shannon. Mairead was a gracious hostess with a flair for decorating. She was also deligent about ensuring I had allowed enough time for travel to the airport before catching my flight out. The house and rooms were very clean. Breakfast was tasty. I located this review website while researching for Park House contact information as I am again planning to fly to Ireland and want to ensure she has a room for me. Highly Recommended!!
A great place to stay
The hostess, Mairead Bateman, was extemely friendly. She presents a beautiful bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and bright, the house clean, even with three small dogs (very quiet dogs!) and the breakfast was wonderful. Park House was only a short walk from Bunratty Castle and the famous Durty Nelly's Pub. A wonderful place to stay!
