Last day before I head home. Second lazy day. We have a late breakfast and then head out for a walk to the local shops to buy supplies for lunch; pane, formaggio and prosciutto. I go for a walk around the village, the first time I've done this this week. There are horses grazing around the village, the sun is out and it is lunchtime so there is no one else walking ...

After that incident, I was worn out and freezing cold, there was snow everywhere on me. But I skied the whole day anyway and had a blast. Might have time to get a pretzel as well ...

... at an Osteria for a delicious lunch. Heading up towards Ravenna we stop at the church of Sant'Apollinare in Classe. It has the most beautiful mosaics, some considered to be the best examples of Byzantine mosaics in the world. We then decide that we would prefer to head home so it is a pretty long drive on the motorway until we arrive back at the village after 9. I've seen some beautiful places over the last few days and visited parts of Italy I hadn't seen ...

The rain stopped overnight and the sun is out this morning. No clouds= pretty cold! There has been snow overnight and the trees just above the village has a soft white coat. We head down to the village at the bottom of the valley, Pontegrande, where Giulio and the donkeys are currently staying. Gilberto isn't sure about the suitability of my shoes for walking up to see them as I've dressed to go out for lunch, not visit the animals. My heeled boots weren't ...
