... We came across where the kids were sledding and talked to a chap who let Liam borrow his sled. He thought it was just the best thing ever. You could hire sleds so we decided to catch the later train and for €7.00 Liam sled his little heart out. Rob & I couldn't miss a chance either. We flew into geneva then got a transfer out to the alps. By the time we reached our hostel it was getting late so we quickly went to a bar for some dinner then off to bed, no idea where we are snowboarding tomorrow! We were up bright and early this morning to ...

... train ride on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. Spectacular scenery to Brig. More little barns. Love those barns. I learnt a bit about those at the Museum in Zermatt. The farmers store stock food in them that they have managed to stockpile during the summer. ( You look out a train window and you see the farmers cutting the grass. Then raking it by hand... to collect and bale. Most of the land is too steep to use machinery.) Then, as winter sets in, they move the stock ...

... balconies, beautiful wildflowers & easy walking wth wondeful views of the snow mountains.  Refuge Bethone was crowded, but some of us had a good room with our own bunk & a bathroom!!! Dinner was very communal, lots of pasta, bread & wine. Julie & I had to stop twice on the way back from the dinner hut to our hut. A very social night ...
