Below, Sophie has reflected on Buenos Aires after her two separate visits and Margaret has added some thoughts she had as she reviewed some of the hundreds of photos from the trip. The contributions will be blended but you'll be able to tell the author of each part. ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina stimson-munro... I had all day. Three dollars later, I was at the bus terminal. I love that cab driver. On the way home, I saw the Walmart. I knew there had to be one! And so that's it so far. I am off to have ice cream with my classmate and look at some exhibition of some sculptures of birds. She's from Poland, and keeps trying to talk to me in Polish. Perhaps I can convince her to find the Polish cafe with me? It's somewhere in Palermo. that's it!
Buenos Aires, Argentina beglisc... of a root touch up, but chatting with Nat and Heids think I will go a bit more red..but I think something gets lost in translation when he slaps what looks like bright red, post-box red, dye all over my head. I wander out of the hairdressers slightly in shock and 235 pesos lighter...stumble back to the hostel where N and H try to persuade me that its looks good, but I am not happy. To be ...

Buenos Aires, Argentina al_fey... beach is to contaminated by oil. I was just thinking what a splendid decision it was to stop here and come to the beach where a few locals were enjoying the caribean water, beer and food and bit too loud Venezuelen music when I stepped on a gd bee! First time in 17 years after always being so cautios - and not carrying any anti-histamines with me. GRRR!!!! The last time I got stung, I had a severe allergic reaction and wasn´t sure how this ...
Puerta la Cruz, Venezuela femi... for 50,000 boliviara's (US$25) as I wanted to check out the backpacker hotel for US$10 one or 2 blocks away. Well, it was full, so I tried 5 other hotels in the same street - all full. Went back to the first one, and they raised the price on me. With hindsight, I really really shoulda taken it, but I hate feeling ripped off and damned if I was gunna pay an extra $5 just coz the guy knows he can get away with it. Stupid, stupid me. I walked round the rather dodgy area of Savana ...
Caracas, Venezuela joulesSo we said goodbye to Peru and to be honest with you, I was actually glad of leaving and arriving in Caracas. Was actually looking forward to being surrounded by local people of the country and having to talk in Spanish again. For some strange reason we had not booked a place to stay. We thought we would be in the city by late evening and find a decent place to stay in Altamira. I really do think that we do not like learning from our mistakes. After a long ...

La Guaira, Venezuela saiklor_abroad... come with me to look for the Post Office, as we have a few postcards to send. What an odyssey! No one really knows where the Post Office is. We are directed in the general direction, and after walking all the way through town and crossing the railway tracks (the regular railway, not the Tren de la Costa), we finally arrive. I ask for stamps for the post cards, and the staff desperately scurries around searching for the right denominations ...
