And we concluded our crossing about 4:00p.m. with the sighting of the lighthouse at the entrance to the harbor at Santa Maria de Leuca.         ... the hell out of here as you would not feel comfortable at all staying here. It was all over grown and on route out I noticed a rusty child swing set under the trees, this was the stuff of horror movies!         ... coming up during this session in particular I'll have to give it more thought, but I'm sure there was a lesson or 2 to be learned! There always is :) In short, Tina and Mattia were a great combination, working very well together and I think as a team they brought out the best and the most in us all in their different ways.         ... majority of the towns, there was barely a hotel open. Many of the hotels obviously hadn't been open for a while, inspite of their advertising along the road. Where there was the odd hotel open, the town struggled to have an eatery that might be open in the evening.

        While not getting desperate, were quite relieved when we discovered Hotel dei Bizantini, just outside Campo dei Messapi.
