... the breakfasts with pancakes or waffles with maple syrup and bacon or sausage. But I ate up all my dinner and hardly had room for pie!
Then, after dinner was the traditional family watching of a game of Hand Egg http://www.saasta.fi/saasta/wp-content/ uploads/2009/01/handegg.jpg I seem to have educated quite a few people so far on my journey of the correct ...
Today was a very rainy day, grey and damp, much like home. So we set out to the Corning Museum of Glass. It was a pretty cool place, lots of unusual glass sculptures and various artwork. There was lots of history stuff too, as well as fun educational things (I liked looking ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09Wine tasting and ice cream today, doesn't get much better! Made some sandwiches and headed out for a drive up to a couple of places on Cayuga Lake, one of the Finger Lakes, where we were sure to find wine (the guys at work will be pleased to note that we went to the places recommended by my lonely planet guide).

So the reason we'd gone up to the parents place was because deer hunting season starts today. It turns out that I’ve been sharing a bedroom with 2 hunting rifles all week which is slightly strange (don’t worry, they’re safely locked away). So Scott and his father went out at 5am after some deer. No luck ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09Cable guy due between 1 and 3 today so not made too many plans, naturally he turned up at 11am while I was in the shower. Happily he had stuff to do that didn't involve access to the bathroom until after I’d finished. Then we celebrated the return of the internet all afternoon, I managed to start this blog (hopefully I’ll keep it up for a while at least) and played some ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09Waffles for breakfast with maple syrup, I approve of breakfast foods in the USA. Went out to Ithaca for the day, the town where Scott has just moved from to have a look round, see where he works and to get my hair colour sorted out. Really pretty town, there are a couple of colleges and we drove up to the campus to get a good view down the hill out over the lake. Was a clear day and the water was really blue ...

Came back and made a proper American sandwich with 3 layers of meat and 4 layers of cheese. All this took most of the day so we spent the evening watching DVD’s (Battlestar Galactica) and chilling out.

He wound me up a little that I’m visiting a guy when I have a boyfriend back at home but was generally pretty cool.
Made it to my next flight after a bit of a rush to locate my bags and then I was off to Syracuse. Scott ...
... up on the 190 to Rochester.
The I90 is an older road, but its smooth sailing. Not a lot of traffic, and a beautiful sunny day. At Rochester I took the 390 down to the south end of the state. What a beautiful drive. The colors were out on the trees, and about 1/2 way down there was on the horizon a wind farm with 20 or 30 windmills turning lazily in the wind. One interesting thing, was that there were at least 1/2 dozen dead ...
... in that happy place when we entered the restaurant. Suddenly, from the back of the room erupted a collective, "SURPRISE!!" Eight of our friends from Toronto - and Garett who I mentioned earlier - were sitting at the table. My legs went weak and my voice caught in my throat. Paul had arranged for them to come to the city to celebrate with us!! They had all known what was happening for weeks and did an incredible job keeping it a secret. I had never ...
