... fan, I was very eager to visit the real Middle Earth (and perhaps even do a bit of hobbit hole spotting...).

I flew to Auckland alone from Brisbane on the 11th February, and had arranged to meet Lauren at the Fat Camel Hostel. I arrived late, and after rejecting staying in the not-so-clean, quiet or inviting Fat Camel, we instead had a pleasant couple of days in Nomads just down the road. ... ist das in Deutschland echt der pure Luxus :-) Jetzt gehen wir mal einkaufen und leben dann weiter in den Tag rein und gucken was er uns bringt. Dieses von Tag zu Tag leben und kein Zuhause haben ist unfassbar interessant. Es hat Vor-, aber auch Nachteile und man muss es selbst erleben, um zu wissen wie es sich anfühlt. Ich hoffe mit den Bildern kriegt ihr ein paar Eindrücke von der Schönheit dieses Landes, auch wenn das Wetter wirklich sehr wechselhaft ist.

We then visited Raglan, a famously laid back surfing town on the west coast of the north island. Unfortunately our accommodation, though actually very nice, was about 10km out of town, so we didn't get to spend any time in Raglan itself. ... of different types of honey - think I know all there is to know about honey bees! Also went to a Volcanic Zone and did a walk in fine drizzle known as 'Crators of the Moon', visited Huka Falls and Aratiatia Rapids - intermittent rain by now. ... was so quiet once the shute was out and a realy wierd but cool experience. When we were almost at the ground I got into my landing position which was just knees bent and feet together and he gently put us down on the ground where I was able to just land standing.... pretty damn cool!

The skydiving company dropped us back at the hostel and then we decided to take a walk up to the hot springs which have little pools of water right by the edge of the big river which are nice ...
