Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. Then we drove to the Builtmore Estate - home of the Vanderbuilts. We didn't actually see it ... A very ...

We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell. We wanted to go to the top of the highest point in the eastern states ( Mt. Mitchell 6647ft high). Upon ...

For happy hour I went to Wicked Weed Brewery, the weed being hops rather than something else, to try three beers. It ...

... with another crossing over Clover Patch Branch just before a small waterfall at the ruins of an old dam. Then there was another crossing over Chestnut Branch before reaching Catawba Falls. Catawba Falls is a big cascading waterfall, probably over 100 feet tall. It’s not possible to see the entire thing and the fall foliage, while beautiful in color, made seeing the falls more difficult. After a couple ...

... One branch had to come down.

We opened up one of the PODS and took out all of our last-minute packing boxes that we had put in. And decided to at least bring in the bed ourselves so we could sleep in our own bed again after two weeks of other beds.

There was a handyman in the house too, fixing a light, a bathtub backup, then a toilet and finally the garage door. Hopefully a new garage door opener ...
