    ... the rock that became known as Blowing Rock. We were surprised at how small the rock and the lookout actually were and also that we had to pay to wander the surrounds. In both NZ and Australia I am sure that this would be a free to see natural area.

    • Met up with Jim and Darlene, who were with us on the Panama Canal cruise my sister and I took last November for lunch. They are staying in Ashville, NC so half way was Spruce Pines. We found a great restaurant for lunch.....Mountain View. It certainly lived up to their name.

    ... help navigate tight spots with spotty success.

    The view on the road was spectacular. Majestic mountains, "Peters Creek" and a million dollar bus towing a pick up truck, with a golf cart in the bed, topped off by a child's pink plastic toy car!

    The last half hour was action packed and super stressful. Just one wrong turn was really hard to undo at rush hour. I blocked access to a post office trying to turn around ...

    ... One branch had to come down.

    We opened up one of the PODS and took out all of our last-minute packing boxes that we had put in. And decided to at least bring in the bed ourselves so we could sleep in our own bed again after two weeks of other beds.

    There was a handyman in the house too, fixing a light, a bathtub backup, then a toilet and finally the garage door. Hopefully a new garage door opener ...
