... we were racing up. Had to wait for the other two at stages, but that provided good opportunities to take in the landscape and the occasional panoramic view of the area. At the top, before the brief decent down to the lagoon, there was a magnificent view if the arenal volcano. We got a photo of ourselves with it just in time - before a cloud front came in and covered it for the rest of the afternoon. ... I didn't win any of those goodies. Then the music started up and the dancing started. They had a DJ playing dance music and the dance floor was packed. Later in the evening we had more performers! This drum line with girls dancing with big flags came in to perform. It was pretty crazy. The night concluded with the breaking of 2 massive pinatas! It was a great party and I am sure I will never have an appreciation party that extravagant every again!

... Drake Bay, our next destination, would be more than rewarding.

Hotel Chirripo in San Isidro de General was only a block away from the bus station and in front of the landmark cathedral. It was perfect for us since we were catching an early morning bus.

Once we showered and freshened up, we went outside for some ice cream and decided we did enough walking for today. We had the whole night to rest up!
