... just makes sense. We nearly didn't go because of family obligations that threaten to end our trip suddenly, too. We were torn about leaving. But we went; we both knew we needed this trip. We've had such a rough year, and Brian and I both want to return to the palce where we feel most centered and joyful. We are grateful to certain of our friends and family whose generosity of time and resources allows us to find some healing time in our personal sacred land, Rocky ...

I think this may be my first time in Iowa though I'm thinking I may have driven through it in college. Regardless, this is definitely my first extended stay in Iowa and I loved it.

We were the featured show of the Circus Fans of America convention (at least I think that was the distinction) so around 100 folks from the convention were shuttled out to our 4:30pm show and sat ringside for it. We couldn’t have asked for a prettier spot to put on a couple of shows either: ...

We were joined by Sarah, Evan, Rebecca and Graham so had a house full of kids, lots of croquet, knitting, campfires and special places ( Treasure Island). On Saturday Sandra, Keith, Kate, Holly and Bear joined us for a rollicking BBQ and day of fun. On Sunday we headed back for one more night at Jimmy and Helen's where Daryl and Heather ...

Took the Winnebago for a trial run to Sunset Lakes in Hillsdale, IL for three nights. Pretty easy drive out, great site for the RV. Disappointed that the pool was closed but the weather was perfect. Took a canoe ride, rode bikes, adapting to our new home on wheels. Met some wonderful people from Montgomery, AL, Joe and Lois. - reminded us of the folks we bought the Motorhome ...

Did I really want to see Chicago?

A travel blog entry by abagworth on Aug 29, 2014

... thank goodness.

After about two hours in searing heat we get out of Chicago and we stop. I get off the bike and nearly fainted, I was suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Two bottles of water and about 10 minutes later I was OK again.

Good to visit Chicago but not like that!

Another 100 miles and getting to the hotel, having a shower and then a couple of beers was very welcome indeed!!
