The Deep End
... an Embassy van to a little township outside of the city called, Atteridgeville.
This is where they threw us to the sharks.
After a mere 12 hours of being in Pretoria, they brought us to a Secondary school where they talked to us briefly, broke us down into groups of three, assigned us to a classroom and had us take it away.
Completely at a loss for what to do or say with this classroom full of tenth grade students, I counted my lucky stars ...

SB '08, Part IV (Last one, I promise)
... home...sort of. I felt more home than I ever had in Cape Town. Not as much as I do in Colorado or at Brown, but way more than in Mozambique or Jo'burg. It was also cool to have travelled the way we did--not many concrete plans, meeting people, staying with people we met, rearranging flight plans, so much on-the-fly planning. It was really unique and fun for us. And Katie and I only got in like two big fights the whole time, and we're still friends. ...

... Tonight we were returning to camp approaching sunset and we'd been up at the Coppie -a rocky outcrop which cats like. We'd seen some tracks earlier and they looked like cheetah,we suddenly heard a rushing in the bushes behind us and spun round to see ............... a group of warthogs legging it away -again how we laughed....! Think I'm going to conclude here b4 I lose this . So take care and enjoy yourself , you can be damned sure I am! Africa Sal xx ...
