... called Kannack Sands. Earlier in the day John had bought Rose a RSPB guide to the seaside, with a list you could tick off as you spot particular sea creatures and plants. Rose got obsessed with this and route marched us all around the beach trying to find everything that was listed in her book. The sun started to set so we then walked back to the car and headed back to our hotel, the drive home accompanied by a spectacular ...

We woke up after quite a difficult night. Christine had been sick in the night and we think that she had caught the same bug that Emily was suffering from earlier in the week. Weather cool, cloudy, patches of sunshine. Travellers concentrating on surviving the motorway. Set off from Peter and Pippa at 9 am. Went 500 metres down narrow lane and confronted by Landrover. Had to reverse to P and P's gateway to let him pass. No scratches on the hire car we hope. Set off for a second time. This time we set a course on the GPS for Wotton- Under-Edge in Gloucestershire. Why there? Good distance on the way to ...

Weather wet. Travellers dry. A long leisurely breakfast led to a long leisurely morning tea then a long leisurely lunch, all still at the kitchen table. We were waiting for the rain to stop but it didn't so we cancelled plans to go exploring. Pippa and I spread out on couches and read and drank more tea, while Nigel and Peter spent ...
