After a rushed morning finishing up all that needed to be done before leaving for a month, we met up with our friends at 8:30 and caravaned an easy 300 miles to the Ruby Mountains in Eastern Nevada. By late afternoon, we had our campsite set up and drinks in hand. The campground is nestled in a long narrow canyon surrounded by high mountain peaks, some still snow-covered. We all had sore necks from looking up all the time and we took lots of pictures.

After that we were back in the minivan for a 4 hours drive to our next town of Elko. The road was quite straight and boring.

... in town. But as usual all went well and we had time for some very nice US style chinese, which is quite different to Oz style and better in some respects. Well the combination fried rice was really quite nice. And so the trip began. It turns out that our lead driver/guide is an old friend of Steph and Adrian's and they had quite a bit to chat about before we headed off. The Green Tortoise tour is quite different to most bus tours in that we ...
