Historical Traveler Reviews Olivia by Duval Key West
we stayed here for 7 days last october for fantasy fest ,. This was our 10th Fantasy fest and have stayed in 10 different places ... but no longer... this will be our permanent Fantasy fest home,.,, we loved it ,, everthing was perfect .... The location is great ,, accomodations perfect, the pool/deck area is great for daytime lounging,,, can't say enough about Olivia by duvall...
if you haven't been there... your missing out ....
See ya in October !!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Olivia by Duval from March 10-12, 2005. Olivia's location is fantastic. Just a block off of Duval Street. The whole place is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. The pool is nice, but somewhat small, and by the time the afternoon comes around is pretty much in the shade. My boyfriend and I stayed in the smallest room that they had, but it was definitely big enough for our needs. All the rooms have their own private bathroom. For the price that they charge for their rooms, this place is a steal! Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Best kept secret
We loved it! where can you go for a great price and quite atmosphire.!!\
I can not say enough good things about it. centrally located, walking diatance from everything, good water pressure, the best beds to sleep in.. comfortable and cozy. Bring a book for the Am because its so nice in the morning for coffee and a porch sit. I liked being able to come home late and every one was considerate, and waking up eary and everyone was considerate... get it... nice people too!!!! quite!! beautiful pool !!!! Cynthia Hwd, Fl
We spent a week in Key West at the Olivia By Duval. This was a lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. It was located centrally near Duval street where all the action takes place. It was within walking distance of any sites we wanted to see. The personnel were great. I found them to be extremely accomodating and personable.
Kay's Cottage - Great place to stay in Key West!
Kay's Cottage is a great facility in a great location on the island. It is just one block off Duval Street, yet towards the quieter south end away from the hustle and bustle of the north side. Everyone we spoke with who manages the facility was very friendly and helpful. Recommended by a friend, we were looking for an above average place to stay for a reasonable price and found it at Kay's Cottage. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Key West.
Our favorite place
We go to Key West two to three times per year. Recently, we have begun staying at Olivia by Duval. What a gem!!! The staff is great, the location is great, the price is reasonable, and the rooms have the "keysy" feel. Although it is near Duval St., you hear little of the noise and it is very relaxed. We love it.
Great deal for a budget
I have stayed here in many of the rooms. In my opinion for the price you can't find any place else with a pool this inexpensive. The staff is very freindly and the rooms are always cleaned. MB ,WV
If you want a safe, clean resonable stop here!!
My new husband and I wanted to get married in Key West. We stayed in the "Captan Quarters Back" and the room was perfect for honeymooners. The staff was great and the room was always spotless. It was the best time we ever had on a Trip and I can not wait to go back. The room had a full kitchen and a murphy bed. It was totally cool. The dates we stayed were 08/24/04-09/01/04.
Olivia by Duval Do NOt Go!
We stayed May 26th and 27th of 2004 in THE CONCH ROOM. I have been to Key West several times, but my boyfriend had not. When we were showed our room he almost REFUSED to stay in it. It was quite dumpy looking considering the $89 a night that we payed. OUCH! (Holes in walls, dirty looking even though it may have been clean.) The worst part was that we had to make a non-refundable deposit so we were stuck staying there. It was not a great step up from the Santa Maria Hotel. I didn't think it was terrible, just a bit of a rip-off. The room, sheets, and towels were clean. It had a bachelor style kitchen, nice ceiling fan and decent air conditioning. I think we would have both been happier at the Wyndham or a nicer guest house. I would have been happier with it if the rates were more around $65. Never again!
A week in Paradise
My wife and I recently spent a week (7 Nights) in Key West at the Olivia By Duval properties. Our stay was wonderful and we hope to repeat in the future. The management of the properties were very friendly, most accomodating and a joy to be associated with. Our room was very clean and very nicely decorated and led to an atmosphere of complete relaxation. While we were very close to the action on Duval St. we enjoyed quiet relaxing moments at our room. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to spend a wonderful and affordable vacation in Key West.

... for about $800 a night and the rest are private homes. Wow! That's for when I win the lottery!
Went for a walk along Mallory Square where everyone gathers for the daily sunset. Got to see a large cruise vessel pull out. Neat to see. Saw all the magicians, musicians, fire eaters, jugglers, etc. setting up for the tourists coming at sunset. Not us. Headed back to our room about 5:30 to watch the 6:05 sunset ...
... up to Charlie Mac’s 404 BBQ and Seafood and had some great BBQ (ribs and brisket) and a couple of cold beers, and watched some football. This is a great bar and grill off Duval Street next to the Green Parrot Bar where the locals hang out.
Monday, we took a glass bottom boat tour out to the reef, and got to see the different types of coral and fish. On the way out we got a glimpse of several dolphins.

... margaritas - Perfection! we enjoyed walking along the harbour walls watching the entertainers, before finding our spot ready for sunset. It was like a movie sunset. Another thing ticked off the bucket list!
as we headed away from the festival the party was starting all over town so we followed the crowds and ended up drinking more frozen margaritas in the original Margaritaville! its 5 o clock somewhere!
... and illegal immigrants. The Key West City Council complained repeatedly about the inconvenience for travelers, declared Key West's independence on April 23, 1982, declared war against the U.S., quickly surrendered after one long minute, and applied for one billion dollars in foreign aid. The stunt worked and all roadblocks were removed and an effective new tourism angle was created. You have to go see a place that still proudly refers to itself as the Conch ...
Tonys birthday and another hop on hop off excursion - this time a trolley bus (same company as we used in Boston) . We decided to stay on and just view the sights from the bus, as most of the places we were interested in returning to where in walking distance off the terminal. It was a good way to get a glimpse of the islands beauty and hear the history. Back at the terminal we headed to the famous Key Lime Pie shop for a coffee and some pie - very delicious. By now we had found out that ...
