... a bit further south to Temperance River State Park and walked part of the trail down past the waterfall to the rocky shore line of Lake Superior. We drove back to Grand Marais and enjoyed a beer on a roof top terrace listening to a local musician playing his country music.

All too soon it was time to hit the road back to Thunder Bay after a great day out in the warm September sunshine.

The hotel we stayed at left much to be desired, Conrad reckons it was probably more a rent by the hour place........ I found that is you had a family of over four people finding a single room was impossible and as soon as two rooms were booked the price was way out of our budget so we had little choice. (Also helped by only being able to do a very short search online for a city we didn't know.)

Once the kids had been bathed and unwound they were put to bed.

The rest of us had a beautiful chicken dinner with lots of fixings. It was a rare treat to have meals cooked for me so i relished it. The fire was lit in the open fire in the lounge which added to the atmosphere. Before long it was past bedtime for all, all in all a very special day with close family and my sisters new one.

... Minnesotans, so it boasts a downtown populated with useless tourist shops and the occasional really cool store. On the weekend before Labor Day, the tiny town is crowded, but we manage to find a parking spot just outside our lunch destination: Sydney’s Frozen Custard and Wood-Fired Pizza.

Julie and I discovered Sydney’s by accident after our first visit to Isle Royale, and now we visit it every time we head Up North. We always order the Margherita Pizza. ...

... the lake for a couple if hours. Calm seas greeted us with a gentle breeze cooling our faces as we paddled along the shore for several miles. A loon allowed us to drift within a few feet.

The girl at the campground desk had me outed she picked blueberries up by Seagull lake the other day and told us to look for an area where the granite sticks out of the ground. We passed several parked cars of blueberry pickets finally ...
