Left Deadwood mid morning and drove 200 miles to Sheridan, South Dakota. It was a very grey, wet and foggy day so the scenery wasn't much unfortunately.

Stopped in a small town called Spearfish for lunch at the Sanford Pub & Grub - great pub with lots of different memorabilia around the walls and good food too.

Friday, June 7th, Today we visited the Fort Phil Kearny Fort and Museum, and the Wagon Box Battle Site between the Soux Indians and the military. They removed the boxes from the wagons which were used to haul lumber and set the boxes in a circle to fight Chief Red Cloud as he was determined to destroy the outposts. A short drive in the dark to Sheridan, WY, where we were staying for the night. It reminded me of how much I very much dislike to drive in the dark... and it clarified why: I can't see any of the scenery around me. As a visual person, I am inspired and fascinated by the scenes around me, and when it's dark, it's like I haven't been to a place. Thank goodness, then, that it was only for 30 minutes tonight.
