We were up early today to do the first of two tours. The first was a Discover Banff and it's Wildlife tour. We had a great tour guide, she was very knowledgable. At this time of year there is no guarantee ...

... more vivid, we think. I am attaching a picture of one I took a couple of years ago, so you can see if you agree! Lake Minnewanka (A.K.A. Lake of the Water Spirits) - Another lake of a beautiful color - 400 feet deep and never warm enough to swim in (even in the summer). We board our next train, the Rocky Mountaineer, early tomorrow morning on our two-day trip to Vancouver, our final destination, after a one-night stay in Kamloops! More to ...

... gift!! I had mentioned earlier that we had hopes of kayaking, weather permitting. Well, the NOT-SO-GOOD NEWS is that kayaking was NOT available, despite the weather being good enough to do so. The GOOD NEWS is that canoeing RIGHT ON LAKE LOUISE WAS available, and we took advantage of the opportunity to do so!!! The gift of a lifetime! Our neighboring hotel, the Fairmont Chateau, is located right on Lake Louise. As you will see from the picture, it is quite beautiful ...
