... the two parks you will only need a day, we found this out a bit late & wasted a day ticket. So back to the road trip. I'm running out of words to describe the scenery & it has to be seen to be believed but really this is the most stunning scenic drive I have ever had the pleasure of driving/cruising. ... was of rivers, lakes, valleys and waterfalls. We stopped at the Columbia Icefield Visitor Center for a lunch and to see the where the Athabasca River starts at its namesake glacier coming off of the Columbia Icefield. ... wir uns dann im Icefield Centre, einem Touristen-/Infozentrum rund um das Eisfeld, noch über die Geschichte rund um die Entstehung, Entdeckung und den Rückgang des Eises informiert.
Am Abend haben wir uns den Zeltplatz mit Gilles aus Belgien und Ariel aus Frankreich geteilt, die mit den Rädern gemeinsam den Icefields Parkway befahren, bevor es wieder nach Europa geht.

... and has almost no flat areas -- just a steady climb. The trail is well maintained and offers 28 switchbacks, allowing for a manageable grade. The overall altitude gain is 700 meters (2,300 feet). It took me 1 3/4 hours to hike up this 5.5 km path.
