    ... with my Swiss mate, Mike. It offers amazing photo opportunities down onto the lake & chalet... Wasn't to be today though! Instead, we walked downtown into Banff & did the touristy stuff, then headed back to the hotel to read and update this blog...
    We check out tomorrow and head up to Edmonton to stay with Miriam for five nights & catch up with some other friends as well.... Can't ...

    Tuesday, a very much anticipated day!

    We were picked up this morning at 10am for our day trip to Lake Louise. Unfortunately we were bit late to arrive as we stopped to help a car stuck in the snow. We took what used to be the main route to Lake Louise in the hope of seeing some wildlife - this time we saw just a single male elk - he was huge and was quite close up.

    We had less time at Lake Louise than we'd hoped for but spent some time at the Fairmont Hotel ...

    ... leadership abilities, most likely :) I picked some berries from a nearby bush and we fed them to the squirrels, who ate from our hands and one of them even bit Julia a little (didn't break skin, so it's fine). We hung around the rock pile for half an hour observing and feeding the squirrels and then moved on.

    ... up the sloped, Lenny carrying some of our gear, and Kitty keeping the grown ups in goods spirits all the way.

    Our cabin was called Riverside and turned out to be the very one which Wills and Kate stayed in three years ago. One room, handmade wooden beds, pitchers of water for washing and lanterns for lighting.
