The ride to Banff town was fairly short - only about 20 minutes. We also had to stop on the way to buy an entry pass for the park.

The town is very small and extremely touristy. We found a parking spot and went for a walk around town. Most buildings are very pretty, mostly wooden and covered with flowers, flags and decorations. All the streets have animal names: Bear, Beaver, Elk, Lynx, etc. The parking spot was on ...

... The cabin itself has no electricity so is dark and cosy. They cook on the ground floor using propane gas stoves, sending it up to the top floor by a pulley powered elevator. They offer soup, sandwiches, fruit pies and a wide selection of teas all served to us whilst sat on the narrow veranda wrapping it's way around the first floor overlooking the pines and mighty conifers surrounding us. After a few other photo stops we reached Moraine Lake at Lake Louise, but not after we had to queue for 15 minutes to get up the road as they waited for people to come down and free up parking. Whenever we Googled images of Banff and the area one picture kept coming up which we both loved - this was Moraine Lake. At first glance as we approached the lake it seemed a disappointment. It was nowhere near ...

... it’s just because we’re only off to Canada.

The flight was also very good. Took off on time, smooth flight, gentle landing, arrived five minutes early. And the disembarkation! Like nothing I’ve ever seen – we arrived, the seatbelt sign went off and…everyone stayed where they were! A few people started to get up but mainly at the front because the sensible people in the back realised there was no point them getting up yet. None ...

      Banff/Lake Louise/Lake Moraine

A travel blog entry by briannaclark91 on Jul 09, 2014

The drive from Kelowna to Banff was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! There was thousands of tall green forest trees that lead up to the rocky snow capped mountains. We stopped at Lake Moraine first which the colour of the lake is famously turquoise with huge snow capped mountains making the background picture perfect. The snow that melts off the mountains must make the colour of the water and freezing cold to put your feet in. Lake Louise was also a sight to see ...
