Historical Traveler Reviews Ocean Breeze Hideaway Kihei

Home is Where the Heart Is!

      from

We had the good fortune to read the reviews on the Ocean Breeze Hideaway on Trip Advisor and decided to make reservations there. All the reviews were uniformly great. Well, we were not disappointed. Bob and Sande, who own this B &B, are wonderful people. They are warm, caring, fun, and intelligent. We found ourselves thinking of the Ocean Breeze Hideaway as our "home." Why, you might ask? "Home is where the heart is," some wise philosopher once said. This describes the Ocean Breeze Hideaway. We arrived strangers and left friends!

      Liked it

      from

The Ocean Breeze Hideaway B&B is located in a great location which is close to the main area but in a quiet neighborhood. The owners, Sande and Bob, are really great and friendly. They have a full nutritious breakfast set up every morning at 8:15 am. They also are great with setting up and recommending different tourist attractions to do...so even if you haven't set it up before going there, they can set it up for you!

The only thing tourists need to keep in mind, is that if you have to have air conditioning to sleep in, this B&B is not for you. The Ocean Breeze suite that we stayed at had a ceiling fan which was adequate along with the cool summer breeze but if you like your room to be 'cold' then just keep this in mind..

      A perfect retreat!!

      from

We wanted a 'getaway' for our honeymoon and to feel the 'real' Maui rather than the 5 star version......this fits the bill perfectly.

Bob and Sande are perfect hosts and gave us a real intro to the island and hints on drives and where to eat - which were invaluable.

Very comfortable accommodation...bathroom a bit 'tatty'....but everything very clean and always clean towels on offer etc.

Provisions for beach breaks were perfect - towels, mats etc etc.

      Ocean Front Condo

      from

Perfect location, perfect setting, perfect place..Bob & Sande have a hidden treasure with their Ocean Front Condo. We have just returned from our first time there, accompanied by our two sons (ages 22 and 20) and can't wait to go back. Everything you need and more!! From your arrival, thru to departure, you're at home. Minutes from everything, this is the perfect location for a couple, family or friends visiting beautiful Maui. The condo complex is great, their staff very friendly and helpful and it's immaculately kept up. Everyone we spoke with are return guests or permanent residents, all agree this is the best condo complex in Maui. Bob & Sande have done a wonderful job in understating their gem..Don't tell too many and leave room for us!!! A definite repeat visitor, Thanks Bob & Sande..See you again soon!!

      I will be back!!

      from

I visited Maui for 9 days late October, early November, and staying at the Ocean Breeze Hideaway was my first time B&B. It was a most enjoyable experience for me. Bob and Sande are the epitome of great B&B hosts. They took excellent care of this single woman traveler, with wonderful breakfast on the lanai every morning, great advice on places to hike, must sights to see, and just a plethora of interesting facts about Maui. Traveling alone can sometimes be daunting, but I felt completely safe and at home at the Hideaway. You have complete privacy with a beautiful, comfortable room, private lanai, cool breezes flowing over you at night, yet you were just a few steps away from sharing breakfast and conversation with two delightful people who are there to make your stay in Maui a truly memorable occasion. I highly recommend the Ocean Breeze Hideaway, the price is right, and you definitely get a different feel for Maui when you are right "in the neighborhood". My only regret is that I came to Maui just before the whales appeared, so, I will be back!!!

A B&B with convenience and privacy

      from

We stayed here for four days. It is our first B&B experience for which we are very pleased with it. You have your own privacy and at the same time you can share your fun with the host. Moreover, the king size bed is much more comfortable than a lot of hotels. The location is excellent too.

The bad thing is we didn't have enough time and had to go places very early. in turn, missed three breakfast.

      Like a 2nd Home

      from

They were very accomodating to our schedule and very knowledgeable about Maui. We were a party of three girls on a budget and they gave us honest advise on what to do during our visit. This B&B is hosted by a trustworthy couple that are forward thinking enough to supply beachmats, umbrella, and towels. You will enjoy your stay with them.

      Ocean Breeze Hideway B&B

      from

Just returned from 9 days in Maui and it was awesome. If you want to save some money on your lodging, and don't need the resort hotel experience, try the Ocean Breeze Hideway B&B. We saved at least 1/2 what the big hotels were charging, and had a great time. Bob and Sande were great hosts and the breakfasts on their lanai were awesome! Fresh fruit daily grown in their backyard as well as homemade goodies were excellent.

A great B&B with lots of value and convenience

      from

We stayed here for 9 days in Feb-March 2004. We were very pleased. Because we stayed over a week we only paid $83US a night. A Hawaiian bargain. We stayed in the Coral Suite. A very large room with a king sized bed. Included, ceiling fan, AC, TV, Cable, VCR, lots of closet space, a private bathroom, fridge, hair dryer, clock, coolers, mats, and healthy breakfasts. It was Bob and Sande our hosts that made it home. They were always friendly and helpful. We had off the street parking which is important in Kihei. (little street room). We always felt safe and relaxed. With only one other room for guests it was never over crowded. It is well located in Maui not far from anything but not really at anything either. It was perfect as we saw and did many things all over the island so we did have to travel to everything but never very long as oppossed to those who choose the north west corner. We hope to return and will reccomend it to others.

      Great place to stay

      from

Just returned from Maui where we stayed at the Ocean Breeze Hideaway B&B. This is a great value for Maui, the hosts Bob and Sande helped with activity scheduling and suggestions for the best places to eat and see. Included beach mats, coolers and chairs made everything easy. The breakfasts were the best part, on the Lani everymorning with fresh fruit right off of the trees in there yard. The room we had was a little small but, had a private bath and was furnished just right. Highly recommended.

Tasted the beer which is called Golden Ale and Denise tried Pinot Gris which was different but got better after each glass. Positioned ourselves at the Tiki Bar, next to Tiki Grill, to await arrival of our luggage. Finally arrived, after numerous beers, and we went to our room showered and both fell asleep around ...

Beautiful blacks and yellows and stringy fins (my nomenclature is a bit rusty) all on the backdrop of motley-coloured coral in water as clear as the sky. Special times. I am very proud. He and I were in the water together for maybe ten minutes and then I led him back to the boat so he could regroup and then head back in with Mel. And then Penny, inspired perhaps by the violent volcanic creation of ...

After a fantastic breakfast, we went to the beach and played for several hours. It was overcast, but the water was warm. Drove into Kihei for lunch at Panda Express. Then went to Long's Drugs and picked up a boogie board. Also went to Snorkel Bob's and got my snorkeling gear. Nicholas then went back to the beach and played for another hour. Then he went to the stargazing presentation and looked at planets through a telescope. He then fell asleep at 9 ...

Shane and I left his home in Kihei, Maui for a scenic drive along the Pacific Ocean and then for a hike into the mountains. He tells me there are NO snakes on the island at all. At least that is what he has been told. Also, no racoons. There is an overabundance of deer, though, and the season is open on them all year long. Also, no hunting license is required to hunt them.

Our route took us through the little jewel of a town ...
