... we nevertheless enjoyed a stroll around the steep streets of the town and after a drink at the Golden Lion decided on "The Old School House", built in 1875, for our room for the night. After passing the religous studies room we were ushered into the english room with commanding views over the fishing boats in the harbour. Looking forward to sampling some of the local seafood tonight.
Port Isaac, England, United Kingdom corny15Today we went on a day trip to Tintagel and Newquay.
Tintagel Castle (now the ruins of) is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, and lies on an exposed headland on the north side of the Cornwall peninsula. There is a lot of history there; some findings suggest that it was occupied as long ago as 200-300AD! There is a ...
It was a shopping and driving day today. We went for a bit of an impromptu tour around the Bodmin Moor area (didn't see the beast unfortunately) and then went to a big department store called Trago Mills where I bought a big road map for when I get a job driving around Europe.
Not much else to report for today, but we did see a cool scooter with thousands of mirrors and a tail!
... to catch 4 or 5! The nimal lovers reading this will be pleased to know that they were all sent back to the river from whence they came...and looked quite funny as they scuttled away sideways too.
There was a few very old buildings in Looe, including one which originally built in 1430! (see the Smugglers Cott photo). It was a nice relaxing day and as always it was good fun exploring a new town.
For my next trip I was off to Cornwall in the South West for a week with my Nan, aunties Jeanette and Marion and uncle Roland. We stayed at Lakeview Villas, about a 5 minute drive out of Liskeard.
Today we drove down from London, and aside from a bit of a holdup at Bath, it was a smooth drive down.
I had done alot of driving over the past few days and needed a chance to stop and recharge... we were still close to the surf beaches of Newquay and ofcourse I was keen for another surf so we headed there for the night and have a surf in the morning. It was also time to fill up the water tank in the van so that meant a real camp ground.
I was too buggered to go to the ...
... and we had to remind oursleves that there are exciting travels to be had here and now.
The educational "Core" was interesting enough but I felt the missed a real opportunity to really engage people and educate them in practical steps everyone can take to hlep the environment and local ecology. What about crop rotation to help the soil? Or growing gowing multiple crops which have a symbiotic affect such that pesticides and fungicides are not need? Nada!

We made it off the island just in time... we had to take our shoes off and wade accross the causeway... this is probably the closest I will get Kim to going into the Atlantic in the North hemisphere.
Next stop was the Lizard peninsular, the guide book said if you made the effort to go here then you would be rewarded. Unfortunately it was very similar to the rest of the coastline we had seen over the previous days so we were ...
... YUM!!!
To work that off we took the long way back to our van via the coastal nature walk. Although still warm the clouds started to close in which seemed quite appropriate fo the scene.
We we got back to the van it started drizzling with rain. It continued off and on for the rest of the day.
... it took us 5.45 to get home so we were all very tired by the time we arrived back at Heathrow to drop the car off! Wednesday Well back for one day and now I'm off to Cornwall with Lucy! The one day in between was spent in Oxford Street. Now this time we are going past Newquay and on to Penzance on the train so we needed to be at Paddington at 9.05 to train it! no driving for me! We arrive at 2.25 and it is cold and windy and overcast, we head ...
