... William Bowers Bourn owned the Muckross house in the late 1800 to early 1900s. In fact, we learned that murals of Muckross house and grounds are painted in Filoli Gardens. By the way, Muckross in Irish means pig peninsula.

... It lead us down a paved road, then a dirt road past some houses and finally into a field. We had to climb over the farmers fence (a ladder was provided) and a sign warned us to mind the cattle-leave only but footprints. It was the most random path but we enjoyed walking through the fields that had the ocean to our left and mountains to our right. Today was interesting. I knew that the Oireachtas was a large formal competition, televised, the talk of the country, so I expected a formal competition.
