Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. Then we drove to the Builtmore Estate - home of the Vanderbuilts. We didn't actually see it ... A very ...

We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell. We wanted to go to the top of the highest point in the eastern states ( Mt. Mitchell 6647ft high). Upon ...

We tried to go to the Biltmore Estate, but it was CRAZY expensive, so we just went to the city and wandered around in the awful ...

... to visit my friend KP and her family. I spent a month and a half there and had a wonderful time. I took a 15 hour flight from New York to Johannesburg and my friends KP, Gerrica, and I drove an additional 14 hours to Cape Town. We met up with several friends there and hung out for a couple of days. I visited the southern most tip of Africa, went wine tasting, and went dancing. After Cape Town, the three of us drove 21 hours to Bobonong, which is a ...

Another favorite is mile marker 418 graveyard fields there is a nice hike down to 2 different falls and picking berries in season is fun.

Devils courthouse is at mile marker 422 good hike to the top views are very nice, caution it is a little steep but worth the hike.
