    ... and that's just what the river through the gorge embodied! It was a turbulent, clear, feisty river. So pretty! The trail along the gorge (very short) was paved and well-maintained.

    After sleeping in (one has to get some sleep when going to bed in the early morning) we meet Anna and Frank for a wine tasting in Apple gate. Valley View Winery in Jacksonvill is our first stop. Amongst their Viognier 07, C******nay 07, Tempranillo 06, Merlot 04, Syrah 06 and Cabernet Sauvignon 06 we elect their Merlot as being our favorite. Very fruity with a dominance of cherry.     ... I think ordering an embarrassing amount of tacos from a little Mexican lady counts as awkward.

    So now we sit here in Medford, Oregon eating at Shari's restaurant. Been a while since I've eaten here!

    More later when we stop for the night. I'm figuring on another five or six hours. It's not that much farther to our scheduled first stop of Bakersfield, California.
