Tien oktober is in de Verenigde Staten Columbus day. Dit is de dag waarop Columbus de VS ontdekte. Voor mij was het een dagje vrij, dus ik besloot op avontuur te gaan. Van een collega op de VA (die al zijn hele leven in Indianapolis woont) had ik te horen gekregen dat Bloomington een mooie stad is en niet te ver weg. Eindelijk zou ik dus wat anders van Indiana te zien krijgen dan Indianapolis.

I'm back in action after a nice Labor Day weekend spent back in Indianapolis. I started my visit to Kappa-Gamma Zeta at Franklin College earlier this afternoon feeling great. Franklin is a small town that has a lot of old character. The college really seems like a gem for the community. I made my way from the University of Evansville north to Bloomington, Indiana, home of the Alpha-Omicron Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha at Indiana University. ... annoyed when we saw the park was in fact 11 miles further on. By the time we reached the turn-off we were ready to drop, and nearly lost it when we saw the ridiculously steep hill ahead. Three tense and insanely hilly miles off our route followed, during which we saw no signs for a campsite and felt that we were probably on a wild goose chase.
