... deluge. After 20 min. it let up enough to continue. I stayed on my plan to ride up the Mississippi River. The weather front seemed to be moving west to east but slowly. Taking the slower road worked and the ride from NOLA to Baton Rouge was actually pleasant. I got some great pictures of 2 plantation houses, and farms. ... to the engine viewing room. The engine sure is impressive! It really does work on steam and is fuelled by oil. Those two main pistons are HUGE! At 4.30 there was a Dixie land Jazz performance by the boat's band. It was really excellent and very much enjoyed by all. The trumpet player was particularly good. ... It was a very grand residence with 365windows and doors and 11 foot high doors. There was a group in costume dancing in the ballroom which was lovely. Some interesting plaster work which was made from clay, mud, horse hair and Spanish moss. Also lots of antique furniture.
