First time to an Amish community

We drove from Chicago yesterday, along really busy highways, so by the time we got to the hotel in Elkhart, we were pooped. Plus there was a time change putting the clock forward an hour, so we were way past our lunch time too!
So once at the hotel, we found a place that served grilled sandwiches. the first I've had in ages. They're nearly always bread rolls ala Subway style!.

... Geez, what did we do before smart phones? We were only a block away, and quickly found where to go. There were several families there waiting. Including some grand parents with their grand kids, anxious for an adventure despite the middle of the night departure. We were called first because we reserved a sleeper car. They hustled us up the steps to the second level, room 6. Room 6 was made up into beds for us. ...

A real highlight of the visit was the working, multi-train O Gauge model railroad layout. Awesome!
Mike and I were like a couple of kids.

All in all, it was a great day at the museum.

... About half of the 2200 employees are Amish. The Jayco Company orientated with the brainstorm/dream of an Amish family in their barn. It is now in it's 3rd generation, Next stop was an Amish Cheese factory and we all did justice to the samples. This paid off for the store as we left with a cheese purchase.
