... City. After some shopping, we rode towards my friend's friends house in Wheatfield, Indiana for our first overnight. They were so lovely, welcomed us very warmly. I was so very happy to see Mary my dear friend, but also glad to get to know Angie and her family. ... and regular, and the singing of the Women's Liturgical Choir was uplifting and beautiful. However, the space itself in the church never ceased to draw our attention up and up. I was surprised that my neck didn't hurt after straining to see as much of the walls and the ceiling as I could.
After mass we hit the local Steak 'N Shake. We tried Chili's first, but the line was too long. At Steak ...
... I think the place would have been eerily empty if not for the birthday parties.
Even though we were not participating in a birthday party, my kids got a little hungry after having been there for a couple of hours. They do not allow eating and drinking in the museum, but a docent was very nice to let us have a snack at the coloring table. Next time, though, I will be prepared ...
... around St Joseph township and taking the smaller roads home. Bought some Halloween pumpkins for Madge's front steps from Sid's Pumpkin patch. We also stopped at Niles to see an old station which has been used in a number of films including Only the Lonely, Continental Divide and Midnight Run.
Went to dinner at Madge's favourite Chinese restaurant, Mandarin House, where we had a lovely meal of beef Chow Mien, Moo Chu Pork and Szchezwan Chicken with peanuts.
... of the back roads back to South Bend and drove through areas that were predominantly Amish farms. One of the cutest things I saw was a small buggy with 3 small children being pulled by an equally small horse. Miniature of what we had seen in town.
Back in town, we chatted with Madge and then enjoyed a lovely meal of roast stuffed boneless pork and vegetables followed by a piece of her delicious apple pie. More chatting before retiring to bed.
