... at Baldwinsville about 11:30 AM and have our choice of places on the dock. The dock filled quickly, though because this was concert night in Baldwinsville. Rusted Root (a band that some have apparently heard of) was scheduled to perform at an outdoor amphetheater just across the canal from us. Today we went DOWN two locks. Down locks are easier that up locks so this was a nice change for us. But most of the rest of the locks will be up as we need to rise to the level of the top of Niagara Falls.
Another difference in today's cruising was crossing Lake Oneida – 25 miles of open water on autopilot. This was another nice change of pace from narrow channels. On the far side of the lake ...
... this is a quiet stop! No trains or roads for miles. The only sounds are fish called Croakers. They make croaking noises underwater that get amplified by our hull. The actually sound like underwater frogs.
We had our friends from Iowa aboard for dinner and met a couple other cruisers on their way to the North Channel in Georgian Bay.
