My long time friend, Dick Smith, asked me if I could go to Kansas City where he wanted to visit one of his classmates that is in poor health. It took me about 30 seconds to check my calendar and say yes.

The proposed route was to go to Louisville Kentucky, Kansas City Mo., then return via Memphis and a tour of Graceland. Both of us are Elvis fans.

... poorer neighborhoods where the houses are in some disrepair, the houses are still beautiful. Tobacco barons built these homes. In the late 1800s Lynchburg was one of the weathiest cities in America. We stopped in the Lynchburg Museum in the Old Courthouse, but the main attraction here is the town itself.

We drove out of Charleston and made a stop at an Applebee’s for lunch. Nothing exciting there, but we are finding slower service at our neighborhood grill.

Since I didn't get get much sleep last night I went on to bed. Jerry came in about 10 and by 10:15 I think we were both sound asleep.
