We decided to go to Tahoe using a Worldmark deal. We stayed the night in El Dorado with Robin on December 29th to help break up the drive. We left bright and early to drop JT off at Heavenly daycare and we went boarding. Well we happened to go on a day where it's Tahoes coldest and windiest. We only did a few runs because only 2 lifts were opened, Stagecoach and comet. The visibility was so bad and he wind was worse. When there was a gust of wind, it was impossible to see. It ...

Up to now I have thought of my Lewis & Clark Tour abstractly. I have been planning this trip for about a year now and it seems like it is taking forever to begin. Because of my "companions wanted" ad in Adventure Cycling Mag. A few people have contacted me with similar interests but no one with a similar commitment. We left the park at 1:30, keen to hit the road and fortunately having been on everything a few times before it had gotten busy. So ...

... riding. Today, however, I was sweating it out on a small climb when I noticed a small cloud that seem to be following me. I kept an eye on it because this is not normal cloud behavior where I'm from. I could tell from the look of it it wasn't from around here and it had no good reason for hanging around and "dogging my tracks". Sure enough while I was taking a taking a scenic picture of Betty it pounced! ...

... that a pick up truck that wasn't already loaded down with a ton of camping gear would take pity on me. HaveI said it yet? It has only taken 3 days to lose all shame! I have yet to complete a 60 mile day. A goal that before I left I thought was very reasonable. What looked reasonable on paper has become unattainable on the bike. Oh well that's what this trip of "discovery" is all about, finding a balance between ...
