34 Hai Ba Trung Dalat, Vietnam
Sorry this update is coming to you a little late, (I'm already in Saigon), but I've been having computer issues. The connection in Dalat was so slow it was almost unusable, and this isn't much better here. Also, for the 2nd day now, I've been unable to login to Hotmail, so don't worry that I haven't emailed lately or replied to your messages.
Well, Dalat was cool, in every sense of the word! The journey there was quite something too. 8 hours after leaving Nha Trang the bus finally tru...

Along with the pomelo-on-steroids, i'm not sure when we'll eat all of these but what the hey, they make take a ride on the Airbus with us bright and early tomorrow.
At the market, there were also loads of veggies and flowers, live chickens and ducks, live seafood (fish, eels, shrimps, crabs and frogs... lots of ...

The geeks did an exploring day out on motorbike to a big waterfall and some sights nearby, but came back drenched and muddy when the weather turned.
We had a mighty brief stop here, wanting to gt to Nha Trang for some relaxation and diving time.
We REALLY enjoyed Dalat... It's a beautiful place, has tonnes to do and is a lot cooler than the rest of Vietnam cos it's at a higher altitude.
Our first full day in Dalat was spent Canyoning which was one of the best things we've done yet! We had two tour guides, Lamb and Ting, who were both really nice but gave us absolutely no safety chat and pretty much left us to plummet to our deaths (except for when we were abseiling). Luckily, there was no plummeting...

... day taking in the usual sights of Reunification Palace, Opera house, Notre Dame cathedral and a few museums. The pick off the day was the War Remnants Museum which funnily enough is full of remnants from the war! Its a really good museum and has loads of planes, tanks and **** out the front but no camera for me!! The place is another head **** tho as you leave the place with that same mix of sadness, dispair and an overwhelming hatred for the ****ers who started it ...
Dalat, Vietnam claire_noel... just to be odd, like something out of Disney but in the middle of Vietnam.
I decided later that I wanted to go on one of the swan boats on the lake like at Alton Towers but unfortunately they were not automatic just glorified peddle boats. There were quite a few around the edge of the lake but somehow Mei and I managed to chose the iron swan. Typical! It was so heavy in the water we could barley get it to move whilst all ...
... turns inward, so that you are forced to drop your feet and just sail down the rope. At the same time, a massive waterfall comes in from the left and hits your body, propelling it to downward and sideways at the same time (like a washing machine). Toward the bottom, we were instructed to let go and let the washing machine push us out. It was really fun! Once we arrived at the instructor's side, he asked "Do you feel clean now?"
After another hike up a ...

Next stop the Truc Lam Meditation Center, overlooking the serene Tuyen Lam Lake. The Mediation Center could possibly be serene as well if it weren't for the dozens of tourists that came over with us from the palace. With the place crawling with tourists, I'm not sure how any mediation could possibly get done. Chatted with a monk, and sure enough, approximately 100 monks and nuns practice at the monastery. It was evident from the ...
... girls and I went for our last meal and then in the morning it was a sad farewell and off back to Ho Chi Minh City and my flight out of Vietnam to Malaysia and the next chapter.
Vietnam had been an amazing surprise. I had heard so many negative comments but I absolutely loved it. It’s an enchanting place. The country is beautiful, so is the food and under there hard exterior, having been through so much terror, so are the people.
