... we were getting close we added a few more km’s on. There is not really anywhere to camp to cut the day shorter as it is a national park. The only thing that spurred us on was seeing a touring bike on the back of a pick up (they had given up and hitched) and the thought of a free legal camp sight!! The other photos here aren't even of Greymouth, but the journey down. The birds are Weka, a flightless bird similar to the Kiwi but day dwelling and a lot less shy. the rocks are named the Pankake rocks because they look like pancakes (apparently) and the Maori word sounds like it.

Als alles den Bach runter laufen zu schien, konnte ich mir auch noch einen Tadel abholen. Die Besitzerin war überhaupt nicht „amused“, dass ich in der Küche meine Zimtschnecken zum Verkauf anbot. Sie wollte ihre Muffens und Brote verkaufen und das Monopol für sich behalten. „Wenn die Schnecken bis 10:00 Uhr nicht weggeräumt sind, muss ich sie leider weg schmeißen.“
