... taking numerous photos we drove back to Napier and picked up a leaflet for their Art Deco Trail which we plan to do tomorrow - the centre of Napier was almost totally destroyed in an earthquake in the early 1930’s and was rebuilt in two years - most of the buildings are in the Art Deco style (which is a style of architecture I love) - so tomorrow should be full of photos! We took a few today just as a taster! ...

... Konventionen befreiten Zeit. Heute gilt Napier als eine der schönsten Art-déco-Städte der Welt, mit einer für die Stilepoche seltenen homogenen Architektur.
Bei den Fotos findet ihr auch dazu welche mit einzelnen Gebäuden und verschiedenen Mustern.
Leider hat es den ganzen Tag geregnet, deswegen kann ich euch versichern, dass der Art-déco-Stil bei Sonnenschein eindeutig besser ausgesehen hätte! Ich mag den Stil trotzdem sehr ...

... which is a typical Napier building, with the traditional Art Deco finish on the front. We then went and visited a couple of wineries, Misson Estate and Church Road, taking a wine tour in the latter which was really good and further enhanced our wine education!!! Following that we set off on our way to Taupo, stopping off in one more winery called the Linden Estate Winery (Is that ok Maria??).
