... their best clothes and hats. There seemed to be lots of alcohol and good fun amongst those who were particpating. Personally for me i do not like sport that involves animals so kept clear of the festivities. Ruth and i wondered the shops (just how many shops are there in Australia!!!!) and took some time out at the lagoon topping up the tan. We had our last meal at Mount Franklins :( Super place to eat if you want some good food)
Wednesday 4th Nov Today we packed up and travelled ...
... can't have sausage every day, can you??); · Some of the interesting local history...in Port MacQuarrie the church we attended had been built by convicts in 1824, and they made the walls one metre thick. I guess being convicts they were used to thick walls...thankfully they decided to forego the bars over the stained glass windows of Jesus. That might not have looked so good; And before you think that our travels are all peaches and cream ...
Raymond Terrace, New South Wales, Australia elopfamily... dunes reminiscent of Laurence of Arabia and the place where Mad Max 2 was filmed. We took a 4x4 tour driving 25 kms into this natural wonderland to visit the Sygna shipwreck and we got to try out the awesome art of sandboarding. Nothing like riding a waxed board down the side of a dune at high speed..we both loved it. We were amazed at what 4x4s can handle. We ended up going over the edge of some ...
Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia ruairioc... It just puts you in a very relaxed state of well being. I think this stuff would be great for people that have anxiety attacks. All in all it was a very relaxing time on the lake. I even put up my hammock on their back deck facing the lake. I was able to catch up on all my blogging as well which is why the last entry 'til now was just before I arrived in Lake Macquarie. If you guys are reading this, thanks again for everything.
Bonnells Bay, Australia rcys... body thinks your throat's been cut. Greasy pizzas and screaming kids ... Amanda's on the the Edge - had a fabulously long, lazy lunch at this properly grown up venue. Fantastic food and service. The Rock - very flash! Modern looking building and expensive menu that didn't entirely warrant its cost but a good meal with a great view of the lakes and fountains Leaves and Fishes* - our favourite! Busy even at lunch time, and with reason. Relaxed deck dining, great wine ...
Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia markandel... plan of Opera in the Vines. We had trouble finding a place to stay - the first but I' sure not the last in our trip. We could find places that would take us for Thursday but not Friday so we finally had to stay at the Cessnock Motel. It was very noisy and on the main road but it was managed by a very extroverted Philippino and her very introverted German husband. It was very clean and Celeste went out ...

Made our way out for a beer at "the brewery" which is not a brewery... clever marketing at it again boys and girls. Headed to bed ...
Newcastle, Australia jjediny... from Ohio. They were pretty good, mainly their music was what stood out, though their lyrics were pretty decent, and they were quite funny. Rastawookie(4) - I only got a glance of these guys in passing towards the Black Keys, but they were really good for what I saw. They were a mix of Ska/Reggae. Kid Confucius(5) - Amazing hip-hop/rap group. I bought their CD as well, and I have been listening to it ever ...
Sydney, NSW, Australia digitaldoc... a kick etc. But its not until about 3 seconds later that your throat feels like someone just stuck a lit blow torch down it. It was unreal!! It took about a litre of water to douse it. Mad stuff. Naturally, we all had another one. After the wine tasting we went to the 'Smelly Cheese Shop'. And yes, it was smelly but some of the cheeses were amazing. We bought some and had it at home on crackers in our drunkeness. There was a long drive home planned for the next day...
