Well where did the time go. Again I had a massive sleep in - 9am, my god what was happening. Obviously I needed it. As we had loads of repacking to do and it was our "goodbye" day we decided not to overdo it with activities. We had asked Cheryl if we could go and see the boys high school and to our delight she had organised a visit to coincide with Zander's lunchtime. We ...

      New Jersey Day Two

I couldn't believe it I had slept in! It was 8am when I awoke to the smells of warm bagels, bacon, waffles & eggs. The Kennedy's look after the "Aussies!" when it comes to hospitality. Truth is I was still full from our turkey feast but who can resist the call of toasted cinnamon and raisin bagels? My stomach is now looking like I am six months pregnant - no more emerging six pack. 12 weeks of hard work undone in a mere two weeks!! Luckily lunch ...

I still got up and went for my freezing cold run through Central Park and yes it did star snowing. I didn't get lost this time and also ran with my camera so I got quite a few photos. It was as beautiful as yesterday. We had breakky at our usual and sad goodbye to all the staff. ...

... park on the roadside for a bit of batting cage practice, we ended up in Staten Island. Not before paying the $15 road toll though! It was cool to see the city from that side of the river, especially as I'd never been there before. Then we had to find our way off the Island and into New Jersey. Driving off the Island we saw a group of kiddies running around crazy in a fire hydrant fountain. Wasn't quick enough to get a picture, but it looked like fun :-)

      Pre-Departure-itis

A travel blog entry by xiaobee on Jan 08, 2013

... Our talk was exactly what I needed -- she told me that I am capable of embarking on this journey, that I have the right (small) amount of reasonable expectations, and then shared some stories about trying to navigate in Japan, where she didn't speak the language. Basically, she reminded me that when I travel, I enjoy the challenges and misunderstandings just as much as the scenic views and novel experiences.
      Throughout ...
