Ayvalik, Balikesir, Turkey traceybelle... off we certainly did - it was Baltic!
Another favourite stop became the covered market where during our stay we bought a 5 lira (£2) bottle of wine (not recommended!), admired the tomato wearing watermelons and enjoyed numerous cups of cay and bakery products - the guys there were so friendly they even gave us figs to accompany our beverages!
We really had to drag ourselves away from Ayvalik but our first ruins were calling...

It used to be a market for local produce but the craft shops have started to creep in. It still has good veg stalls and a couple of ...

All of the small restaurants along here gave off a great site as all the colours reflected off the water and also helped by the moon light! ASSOS, Turkey garth_travelAt nine at night, we took a shuttle through the crowded streets of Istanbul and arrived at the airport-like bus station by ten. Erin and I sat together and Josh sat alone until a large Muslim woman came down the aisle. Looking at her ticket and the empty seat beside him, she turned and said something under her breath. She walked to the conductor speaking in long sentences. He walked down the aisle, and then speaking in Turkish said something to Josh, then to us and ...
