... site was about an hour and on the way we saw a few Amish men with their long beards and denim overalls riding on their horse and buggies and selling their fruit on the street. We were surprised to find out that Belize actually has a large population of Amish and Mennonites living within the country. They are well respected here as the most peaceful people living in the country.
Upon arriving to the site, we picked up our inner tubes and ...
... managed to cross) a couple of times….and Anwen was also definitely not a fan of…., we found somewhere where we decided it would be safe to take a dip – which was really nice and cool if not a little muddy!!!
We’re now pretty shattered so going to find some rum and some food. Impressions of Belize so far are good-everyone seems very friendly.
We went to 'Hannah's' which was recommended inthe Lonely Planet for dinner and had the ...

through a traditional 2 day purification ceremony before entering .
I think he said it was the November 2004 issue. Must look that up
once I am back in BC.
We are told by Ranan that we will be
travelling 1/3 of a mile through water anywhere from a few inches to
10 feet deep. We twisted and turned, sometimes squeezing ourselves
into very tight spaces and climbing several feet of nearly ...
... a huge lunch (usually rice and beans with a few other things added) is prepared for all of us. After lunch, I went back to the office for more orientation and to learn about the community and the programs at Cornerstone. Later, I went with a friend to Eva's for some Belizean Belikin beers. Eva's is a restaurant/info centre/hangout on our street run by locals. I had heard lots about it and was anxious to go but there were only a few others ...
San Ignacio, Belize sarainbelize... be a great place to sit and have a few drinks and watch the sunset. The currents here are quite strong - it would be pretty difficult to swim across to the other island !
I walked back and chilled at the hotel up on the balcony where the wind was nice and refreshing and it was shady... relief! Our taxi golf cart came again to carry our bags and a few of us hitched a ride to the water taxi terminal. Our boat came ...
We are now just short of the border with Guatemala and we have stayed in San Ignacio for one night and again no value for money. Its not easy for budget travellers to stay in Belize. Its a pity because I'm sure Belize has a lot to offer and maybe we haven't given it enough time but our pockets don't allow that! Anyway we've heard good things about the rest of Central America and are going to start heading that way. We can always look back on Belize and laugh at the "fried chicken elvira".
San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize bradandbecs... than usual and that it would be better if we were expereinced kayakers, but we had life jackets and the determination and so off we went. Within about 2 minutes of pulling out from the bank it suddenly started raining torrentially, we got saturated and had to seek shelter on the bank again but then after 20 minutes it just as suddenly stopped and we were away again. There was thick jungle on either side of the banks that we could admire while the water was calm. But the hard part ...
San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize renee.thompson... only more tired and weary than before. Get up you may be weak but you can always fall into the arms of the one who allowed His death so you may have life. I have my own radio show back now from Monday to Friday at2- 4 30 my time which is an hour behind central in the US. I continue to spread the gospel over the amazing media of radio and often times the hours are long and weeks even longer but I take courage from knowing the many that support me and that I serve ...
Belmopan, Belize hrpitschmann... strong , sober and stoned together. Most likely you have stumbled upon it already no literary subtleties needed. Money of course money but let me assure you this isn't a " money is the root of all evil or a love of money is either. Have you ever stopped to think about what makes this world go round no not money, while money may make a lot of things possible it would be nothing without first as I said earlier falling asleep ...
Belmopan, Belize hrpitschmann... up the hill a bit where you can get a good view of almost all the falls, these consist of several small drops amounting to a fall in total of about 120 feet with the river reaching about 50 feet wide. We parked up for the night in the local camp ground, they only had water available but it was a nice quite place to stay, we could even get under the palapas, thatched palm shelters, to get a nice breeze out of the sun.
