Arizona has its own beauty. The land changes so much along I-40 and I-17; from baren hilly landscapes to lush pine forest.
As we drove through Arizona we did a brief stop at Houck to check out Fort Courage which was shuttered and in obvious neglect.

Heading west we stopped off for lunch in the beer garden at Beaver Street Brewery in Flagstaff - the first of many breweries on our trip. Perhaps this is why the blog entries have been so slow to arrive.....? As much as we would have like to spend the arvo chilling at this cool little place, we had many miles to cover before sun down.....

So yeh, Death Valley was pretty much as you would expect - very sparse, very hot and very barren! It has quite a lot of elevation changes aswell, going from about 2000m down to below sea level. ... At the campground we go to the pool around 6pm. There we met a couple from Kansas City and Flagstaff, they have homes in both cities. We got to to talking and it turns out that Frank grew up in Tijuana, in a barrio very close to where Manuel grew up. Well you could not stop that conversation! Got up very early this morning, 4:30 am! to be exact. I feel like there is something special in the air!?? Then I remember, it's Alexis's birthday!! I'll send her a text later this morning.
