Hamilton Academical v Hearts 6/12/2009

Travelled from Fife over to West of Scotland and Hamilton, just south of Glasgow.
Watched the game which Hamilton won 2-1 and really enjoyed the atmosphere. On the radio on the way home though learned that there had been fighting in the players tunnel after the game and the Police had been involved. Boys will be boys!!
Sat with the Hearts fans ... not happy! Team were poor and they can see their club is in decline!

The Heart of Scotland

... em back! Now that's what I call a family!" Try thinking of this in a Scottish accent.

A small glass of Glenmorangie and then off for dinner. Haggis, neeps (Turnips mashed) and Tatties (Spuds mashed). Very nice and very filling.

Home to meet the family. A great welcome, some more Scottich accents and off to the Motherwell version of an RSL for a sing along. Some ...

In the land of kilts, fish and chips.

... we were drinking our coffee we decided to do a quick sketch of the train station. As we were sitting there a nice older man in a kilt caught a glance of what we were doing and invited himself over. He pulled up a chair and started to explain to us that he used to teach architectural drawing classes and now is a professional artist who gives presentations on his work. He asked to take a look of each of our sketchbooks and gave ...

Roundabouts and One-way-streets?? riiight.

Short and sweet...Were in Glasgow right now...FINALLY!!! All I can say is that this is what travelling is all about!! We ha our first trial, tribulation, glitch today, whatever you wanna call it! We travelled by car, taxicab, bus, boat(ferry), train and bus...and then car again, all in one day. And as mentioned in every single blog, what would one day be without us getting lost. Except this time, we thought we were in Glascow and were actually in a ...

Gae Bar

... He added that I should be careful - the bar was safe - because with my red hair it was likely "some highlander would carry [me] off to his attic"! We thanked him and said weŽd take our chances so we walked down and found out they had just stopped serving food but the bartender told us to go to The Goat just a little farther down and we could find good food. We did and some more live music by a band that really appealed to Chris, they were good but it sounded more like ...

Lazy day in Glasgow...

... food. It's so wonderfully reliable, in that you know pretty much that you're going to be able to find bangers and mash, some sort of pie, fish and chips, etc. just about anywhere you go...but at the same time it's so unpredictable how any given place will interpret said dishes. Yesterday, case in point. Neither of us was terribly hungry, so we ordered a chicken and bacon salad, which I had had before as a pile of greens with ...

The Lakes District and onto Glasgow

... town with narrow streets and quaint little shops. Stone houses built from slate with slate shingles on the roofs, another town we drive through is called Ambleside and it is even more pretty to look at. You think you'd get sick of these pretty, scenic routes but they're so different than the views in Australia and some of those houses are older than anglo civilisation in Australia. Grasmere is our lunch stop and although it's raining Ellie, Pony and ...

Glasgow

... we saw a lot of young kids with babies... and then there was a group of kids wearing McKenzie shirts that were bright pink... blah. Tonight we had really good dessert- coconut ice cream and chocolate cake. mmmmm. Girl talk tonight- fun times. I wish Glasgow would have been more fun- oh well, can't win 'em all. It's kinda dirty here too...

Living the high life:)

... as it was so near the end of my trip, i opted for local buses and trains to transfer from the airport - about 75km from the city centre. the airport train takes about 30minutes to get to the main train station. granted i paid only a fraction of the price that train would have cost, but it also took me over 3hours to get there!! so i arrived in the city late at night, but still took a wander round, as i was staying in a very central area - the golden triangle, and i wanted to see ...
