    ... from the put-in. It was a lovely spot - perfect for camping but camping is not allowed there. It has a little sandy beach where Otto fed some fish with bread and hopes to bring his grandson Milo. I took some photos with the macro part of my waterproof camera.

    ... they weren't optimal. One was too sttep. One was too far away. While exploring the put-ins, we met a couple from the Carolina's who had spent much time in the Adirondacks when they lived in Rochester. Oh, oh - was she Chris and I have forgotten his name. Very pleasant people. They said they were checking out some of the historical sights. Otto suggested we follow Tahawus road and see what we could see.

    We checked out of our hotel and went on a boat tour of Lake Placid. We enjoyed seeing the many "camps" along the lake -many with only boat access.     ... to the Whiteface Adventure Center. Whiteface is a the 5th highest mountain in New York. We rode a gondola up to the bottom of "Little Whiteface". We spent time exploring there. Our final destination of the day had us heading to 4,295 feet (Oh no! Hoping for no altitude sickness for Mom!) to climb to the summit of Whiteface Mountain. We climbed the rocky Alpine Trail ...
