We arrive in Lake Placid around 6pm - a long day of riding - we did 635 kms.
We walk into town and have dinner at the Great Adirondack Steak & Seafood restaurant. As the meals are always bigger than we expect, we have left over steak and baby back ribs for tomorrows lunch - doggie bags are the done thing in the US. ...
... then summit walk and final part of castle when he was the Governor of NY. And just before the Depression. Since the project was in its infancy when he became President people thought it was just another part of the Public Works Projects. All stone in the castle is from the creation of the road.
Ferry was a beautiful hour long crossing from Port Henry NY to Burlington ...
... miles, already had ridden 100 miles and were 12 miles from the finish line ,and with 26.2 miles of running to come) still had enough energy to make funny comments and thank folks for cheering them on. I expect they will be more tired than we are this evening. We really have had a good day. The only rain we had today was just a very light passing sprinkle or two and we have seen some fantastic scenery…and eaten WAY too much! Thanks (we think!) oldcat!
We drove 117 miles ...
... and 1980 Olympic Ice Rinks. The "Miracle" Ice Rink still gets me. The guy working the desk at the museum was working concessions at the rink during the 1980 US/Russia game.
We then hiked about 2 miles to the Lake Placid Lodge. Had some great drinks at the bar, and great conversation with the bar tender and other patrons.
