    Riding through Troy, PA

A travel blog entry by backroadtravels on Sep 26, 2015

The first time I road through Troy, PA, I was traveling by minivan on Rt. 6 (a nice ride in itself). It was nice to see the town again. It's a pretty town in northern PA. The one thing that amazed me about Troy are the number of old, fancy houses. Given the surrounding areas and no obvious signs of industry, the town appears to have had an affluent past and a seemingly healthy future.

    Rest stop

Just that. Nothing special. Stopped at a convenience store, bought a bottle of water and gave a couple cub scouts who were doing a fund raiser a few dollars. Trying to decide whether I want to spend another night on the road or save money and ride the rest of the way home. Skies are a mix of sun and large dark clouds in the distance. Following a late lunch at Subway I went across the street to Watkins Glen State Park. The park is really amazing, you walk through a stone tunnel and then her into a gorge that is unbelievable. The sheer cliffs and the waterfalls ...

... for any others enough to buy a bottle.

After our wine tasting, some snacks, and a few photo opps by some beautiful waterfalls we started the drive back home to Pennsylvania. All in all it was a wonderful trip and I would love to go back again camping, hiking, or touring any time! And I'm still pretty proud of Joey and I for sticking it out and braving the elements on our first camping trip! ...

    My First Real Camping Trip

Now I don't have too too many pictures with this entry, and unfortunately I didn't take any of the campsite--partially because I wanted to be off the grid a bit with my camera and phone tucked away and another BIG part was the fact that it was raining/pouring most of the weekend! Lucky us right? My very first time doing real camping in a tent--no camper or inflatable mattress haha--it downpours and storms most of the weekend. So that means it also was a ...
