... we wandered down from our hotel through dense banana plantations right to the waters edge. A huge variety of "protected" birds sprung up in our path and the sun glinted gently on the green water. In a selection of places dubiously smelling fluid frothed into the current. This didn't offend the birds as much as it did my environmental sensibilities. I mistakenly disturbed a snake as we traversed the undergrowth. In turn it somewhat disturbed me.

... plenty of indiscriminate screaming. One women carried a baby, which in no way impeded her. It reminded me of home.

We were also quite puzzled when, on arrival, we asked directions from a man who was casually drinking coffee in a local cafe. Within 15mins he returned driving a genuine taxi. I consider that even if he over charged us a little, as he undoubtledly did, it was worth rewarding ...
