... event being held and there were many veterans who fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. It made our visit here extra special. Olivia struck up a conversation with a World War II veteran from the U.S. air force. His name was Howard Dixon. He was an aircraft engineer on the B-29 bomber. It was an honour for us to meet him. We are so grateful for the sacrifices Howard and so many others made for us so we can enjoy freedom today.

... travel/GPS/rest area apps that I downloaded. (I'm trying to find one that tells me we can make it west of Chicago before midnight and without me having to drive :) Paige is laying on the top bunk in the back with her headphones on singing at the top of her lungs. So far, life is good and everything is running smoothly. I haven't even heard the words "I'm bored" or "how much longer?", but then again, it's only hour ...

I spent the day sorting & packing clothes, shoes, etc. How much roughing it is too much roughing it? (aka, how many times can Charlie wear that same pair of underwear?) I think I have it sorted into two paper grocery bag sized bags for all of our clothes, and a couple of boxes with binoculars, walkie talkies, and bug spray, etc.

I am sure I have forgotten something, but I am sure we can buy it along the way!

... more miles later we came up on a road called MacArthur Drive. This road took us to a Visitors Center at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. After parking the car we saw a number of civil war reenactment Soldiers that were in camped along the Canal. Those Soldiers were practicing various individual maneuvers from the Union Army manual of arms. There were about 25 dress soldiers and they had their tents set up near the closed Visitors Center.
