... drove by the lovely Catskill park, walked in the little town of Hudson where we ate a hamburger in a very American style diner, aluminium counter and little stools.
He took me to the Olana state historic site, the house and estate of a famous landscape painter, Frederick Church, I downloaded one picture (of course not allowed to take pictures), and I accompanied him to an auction, I love to see the auctioneer going fast and hitting the hammer!

The trip between Catskill and Marlboro where we are now did not fail to impress us. We passed the last three of the four unique lighthouses on the Hudson - these are actually houses all from the late 1800s in the middle of the water in most cases. There were many huge mansions and monasteries on the hillsides near Poughkeepsie, we were able to catch a glimpse of the Vanderbilt mansion through the trees. ...

With no appointment ( granted the busiest part of this season is not on them yet, but still!) they started with us right after 1 pm and we were back in a slip before 3pm even with a few waits in between.
