    ... of All Creatures Great and Small fame). The old surgery is now a museum of his life and the town life in the 40s. Can't say we visited the museum but we did visit the town en route to Staithes, in the pouring rain, for a meal! Redcar, north of Staithes, is attempting to liven up the sea front and attract more tourists. It apparently was THE place to holiday from the borderlands and southern Scotland at one time.     ... huts and Traci struck up a conversation with a couple who have been coming to Whitby for the past 20 years and have an allocated beach hut. They told us about the huts and how they owned by the local council and you can rent one out for the summer three months, for 600 pounds and there is a long waiting list each year. The huts come completely empty and you can fit them out anyway you want however they are very small and do not fit beds ...

    ... England, however it was checked when we arrived in Ireland. And when we left Ireland, and arrived back into England, no physical checks were made by either country. We guess the checks are done automatically when you check in with the airline and if there are any issues further checks are done at that time.

    ... the sky through gothic windows is always cool, and some of the windows here still had a lot of fine stonework for a lovely silhouette. What's most poignant is the rose window. There's no glass left in it of course, but the inner stonework is still intact. Just lovely. Today was my record for photos taken - 125. My camera ran out of battery, and then so did my phone.
