... us again by coming with gifts for Ted and I. We now are now planning on where we can place 3 lovely glass hooks and Sheree got a new silver lace necklace. So lovely and thoughtful.

A special shout out to Maryann that tried to help me with a place to take our guests for dinner. It's hard to host someone properly when you don't know an area yourself. Thanks. Where did we sleep? Again at the casino.

... Between that and my Spanish, we communicated just fine. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and curious how we had made it to the party. Good people, good conversation.


We also found out that the Rio was going to be a huge party the next week because the Formula One motorcar race was being held in town. This, of course, is a major sporting event attended by people from all over the world. Over the next week, we ran into a number of famous drivers and ...

It was situated at the bottom of the Space Needle and was apparently a yearly thing on Memorial weekend, I realise I forgot to mention this, it was memorial weekend, an American holiday to remember their military casualties, while at St Helens and in Seattle. It like most public holidays was used to party, although apparently there are marches and stuff in remembrance.

The Folk festival was really cool, it was many markets then stages dotted ...

... to Portland we went.



Portland was exciting because I was curious about the city AND because we found an LA Fitness and got to shower! Hooray! That was really exciting. I really had no idea what to expect from Portland...and wow...what a great city. We did the outdoor thing at Washington Park and then drove around the city and ate grilled cheese & tomato soup and sliders at a place ...

... seat in the house - we could see the entire marina and all the way to Seattle. As the sun set, lights on the Seattle skyline started to twinkle. It was honestly the most picturesque setting for a meal I've ever had.

I know we're saying this about a lot of places, but we both could very happily live in Seattle in the future. Such a manageable city, and the surrounding areas make for perfect free time. One day, we'll be back.

Next stop: Vancouver, BC!
