... the last time we were here how neat the spiral tunnels are, so we decided to see if we could get to the tunnel overlook in time to see the train spiral through. The tunnels were built to make this section of the railway a lot less steep. Before, it was so steep that most trains were out of control, and it was uncommon to have a train that was in control. Ice Fields...aka...Ice Parking Lot!!!
... as the eye can see. And, on one side of the road, there are huge terraced granite mesas...on the other, peaked glaciers with dustings of snow. Every 20 or so kilometers, there is a lake...more like a reflecting pool, that takes your breath away.

... possible bear print in the snow whilst on a hike and we apparently just missed seeing a black bear, who had swum across the river and ambled back into the woods near Lake Maligne, according to other hikers.
However, there was plenty of other wildlife to see. We spotted numerous deer and elk, many cheeky squirrels (one of whom climbed all over Michael hoping for a bite of his lunch), a coyote marking his territory ...
