We woke again to sunshine and were very excited about heading to the sunniest town in the North Island – big mistake!! After just ½ hour of driving the weather changed to low cloud, mist and rain! Seems to be a familiar pattern here.......

They were palatable enough but not really to either of our liking, so we sheepishly made our way out, with that ever so British feeling of guilt at having taken up so much of her time and not buying anything.

On to the main event - the pony ride. Mummy and daddy had been going on about it all morning. I’m not sure what all the fuss was about. Maybe they were just excited. I thought I would humour them so sat on Polly and got led round by a big entourage. Honestly, all the fuss they made, why didn’t they go on the damn thing and have done with it.
