      ... well groomed or as large as Versailles, but this was the country home of kings, not a formal palace from which they conducted business. You can see from the pictures that it is lavishly decorated in French style with no surface left unembellished.       The next train was quite crowded and we settled in to our seats as we watched the French countryside rush past. There were lots of rolling hills and typical French farms with all the brick buildings facing each other in a courtyard.       ... again, it's a huge palace. We found it hard to comprehend the massiveness of the place and the gardens are just ridiculously huge! There are acres of gardens and water features that extend for a mile, literally.
